Skelter

He will hate me for using that old ass nickname, haha.
parra.jpg
My good homie Skelter Parra is kind of a big thing in the art scene and stuff right now, and rightfully so, if I might say so in my biased opinion. Every now and then I wonder what would've become of us if we never got into skateboarding back in the day, but I don't think I really want to know what the answer to that would be. It's fun reading interviews with him because 1) He doesn't do too many interviews 2) When we speak, we talk about random nonsense and then some, but rarely about 'work'. Anthem Magazine caught up with him for a bit of Q&A, which you can read right hurrr.

Jet Setting with Frank151

Curated by Jason Lee and Chris "Dune" Pastras, two of the greatest who ever did it in my alltime favorite Blind/World Industries/101 era.

frank151_chapter32.jpg

Guest curators Chris Pastras and Jason Lee have traveled around the globe and are part of a new generation of world travelers exploring what it means to be a Jet Setter in the 21st century. For chapter 32 of FRANK151 we present the Jet Set Book, examining and redefining what it means to be a part of the Jet Set.

Hitchhiking, train hopping, yachting, ballooning, hover-crafting, hitting the road in a swank RV are all modes of travel covered in the Jet Set Book. Pastras and Lee will tap into their global network of friends and collaborators to bring our readers the best advice on how to survive on the road. From reaching VIP status at the Admirals Lounge or working your way out of a foreign prison, knowing the proper etiquette for acquiring contraband in lands far and wide, or simply trying to find the nearest bathroom when abroad, the Jet Set Book will set the new standard for travel guides. Jet Setting once evoked images of glamorous travel, the world's social elite jetting to exotic locations inaccessible to the average person. Paris, Monte Carlo, the Swiss Alps, Rome, the Greek Isles, and Hong Kong were all destinations of the elite. Now that air travel has become affordable to most people in the world, the term "Jet Set" has lost much of its social cachet. Catching a flight these days is a lot like catching the bus. No frills and bring your own peanuts.

Chapter 32 out now.

The Gonz

Skateboarders who came up in the 80's and 90's know about Mark Gonzales and the impact he (and Natas) made in street skating. Mark is a living legend, the Charlie Parker of skateboarding.

Munchies

R0013047.jpg Supposedly Amsterdam is a so-called "world city", though in reality it's a real bitch when it comes to finding decent food after midnight! Hooked up with my homie Ewan and showed him around the city for a bit tonight. First time I met him in Tokyo he could tell straight away that I was a skateboarder, even though (in my opinion) I don't really dress like a skater anymore, funny... Ewan's in town for a new publication he's working on, a new magazine reflecting the 21st century Tokyo lifestyle which will hit Japanese newsstands in September. But yeah, we found food at last, and aside from being a hungry and jet lagged guy looking for a late night meal, he's also the ceo of Playford and creative director (alongside Takihiro Okazawa of Cycle : CLS fame) for Levi's FLU, so he's one busy cat. Welcome in Amsterdam!

Adidas AZX Project - Patta ZX 7000

360856_Patta_01.jpg 360856_Patta_02.jpg

Patta ZX 7000

Amsterdam's Patta crew use their 'P' position in the aZX project to give the ZX 7000 a tough, bold look that's reminiscent of classic technical jackets while reinforcing the model's heritage within Europe as a much sought-after shoe.
Teal, purple and scarlet make for a killer combination, and in premium leathers, the shades take on a life of their own - especially when they're bolstered by subtle details like scarlet suede stripes on the outer, and
tonal, perforated teal stripes on the instep. Mesh lining, an embossed 'P' and footbeds that live up to Patta's usual impeccable design standards finish things with a touch that only true sneaker connoisseurs can bring.

1928

R0012898.jpg To commemorate the Beijing 2008 Olympics which jumped off 080808, Nike has launched a grip of temporary retail installations all over the globe yesterday. Each one of these spaces are designed to give consumers a unique experience with the brand and to act as hubs in each respective city, mixing sports and the creative community. The pop-up stores remain open from 30 to 60 days and offer consumers a selection of the brand new Nike Sportswear line, including the superdope Nike x Loopwheeler products. R0012839.jpg R0012897.jpg Loopwheeler zipup hooded sweaters and tees are fresh like downy. R0012860.jpg R0012884.jpg R0012842.jpg Wix and Vic in the building tonight. R0012841.jpg Select personnel: Agra (Nike SB), Pim (Nike) and Björn (Nike SB). R0012874.jpg R0012880.jpg R0012893.jpg Parra and Delta, two of Holland's finest artists today. Parra produced a series of work for the recent Current and AM90 campaigns and Delta's collaborations with brands such as Stüssy, ACU and Clot are hitting stores soon, so be on the lookout for that as well. Lördag

R0012764.jpg Hooked up with SNS crew and had Mississipi burger for breakfast. Not bad. Not bad at all.
R0012766.jpg As recommended by the homie Mikkel from Converse, who happened to be in Stockholm as well. Actually he was at Riche too the night before, but I don't think he remembers much of it haha. See you back home. Sober.
R0012768.jpg R0012775.jpg Thank you Peter, Erik and SNS crew: Britt, Johan, Martin, Mirjam and all the others whose names I forgot (sorry!), thanks for the great hospitality, thanks for having us. Shout to Druck, Ricky, Angel, Mikkel (Bitterballen in a few), Oskar, Kristina and everybody else we met during our stay. Peace Stockholm!

The Island

R0012682.jpg Boated out to a little island outside Stockholm's center with the crew. The one day we're going to such a beautiful place the weather is like back home shit. Just our luck!
R0012704.jpg R0012691.jpg ...Rogers Nelson got it on lock.
R0012782.jpg För real.
R0012702.jpg Getting work done. Mandatory blurs, you know how it is, sorry. Productive day though.
R0012694.jpg R0012701.jpg Paddling our way back to the city after a long day of work. On the left: Our friendly host Erik, co-owner of Sneakers N Stuff, Angel, J. Edgar Drucker aka the Mayer of New York and Franz Kafka in the back. On the right front to back: Ricky, Johan the Mac wizard at Sneakers N Stuff, Charles Bukowski and Mr. Jansson, the other host/owner of Sneakers N Stuff. Up to the nightlife.

Mötley Crüe

R0012706.jpg Kafka and I fell back at the hotel for a bit. However, we were in such bad need of some food we lowered our standards and walked to the nearby Mcdonald's in pouring rain to get some pre-grub til the other guys came out. Had to grab a sweater from my man too, since I only brought underwear, t-shirts and a laptop... Optimist = Daydreamer more elegantly spelled.
R0012708.jpg Swedish meatballs, it doesn't get much realer than that. Peter agrees.
R0012713.jpg Introducing Ray, most Swedish know him as the rapper named Blues. Ray is een echte soedattie! Hit me up when you're coming out to the Dam later this week!
R0012734.jpg R0012738.jpg Kafka and Erik B discussing everything but streetwear. Like flute playing and gardening. Turns out Erik is a master at both.
R0012739.jpg That's no peace-sign, Angel is a master at ordering more drinks.
R0012725.jpg Meet Oskar Olsson. Aside from looking like the starring role in a funky 70's cop series, he's also owner of the stylish Denim Demon jeans brand. He also has a blog on Vogel's site. Keep an eye on this guy!
R0012742.jpg Oskar's girlfriend Kristina is a great singer and piano player I was told by many anonymous sources. (This is true).
R0012724.jpg Charge it to the game. And keep it moving.
R0012749.jpg Moved from Riche to East til the fat lady sang. Party over tell the rest of the crew.
R0012748.jpg Get drunk or die trying. Epic fail. Deze gast ging pas echt fucking slecht!
R0012755.jpg Peculiar window displays...
R0012757.jpg Thought we dodged Gay Parade back home, turns out the had the same thing going on in Stockholm.
R0012756.jpg Angel & The Angels.
R0012760.jpg Drucker trying to make friends with To Wong Foo.
R0012762.jpg Goodnight Stockholm.
