20 May 2012    Parra x Kidrobot “Pierced”

As he pierces her with brutal force.

Inspired by the melodramatic cover art of romance novels and based on his original silkscreen artwork, Dutch artist Parra has crafted Pierced, a 10-inch tall vinyl sculpture that has no front or back, telling its story in the round. Using his signature post-Pop imagery and highly saturated colors with contrasting matte and gloss finishes, Parra depicts two figures entwined and suspended in a dramatic dance of passion and pain, revealing multiple levels of love.

From one angle, the scene is an ecstatic and intimate moment between lovers. A fiery embrace. Change your view, and a brutal display of empowerment is revealed. A clothed man impales a nude woman’s neck.

Produced as a limited edition of 300 with artist’s signature engraved on the bottom, Pierced becomes available for $150 US beginning June 7 at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers worldwide.

16 Apr 2012    PATTA STORE RELOCATION

Since opening our doors for business in 2004, Patta has emerged as the flagship boutique of Amsterdam and made a name for itself in the European streetwear scene. The combination of Patta on the first floor paired with Ben G Skateshop on ground level provided a unique shopping location in the capital of The Netherlands. In addition, the Precinct 5 boutique was established in 2009 inside an old police station, serving as a sophisticated extension to Patta. Both stores have been popular destinations for both local and travelling sneaker enthusiasts, street culture devotees, fashion patrons and the like.

Entering our 8th year, we have experienced organic growth and encountered change in market conditions both in store as well as online. The townhouse-like Patta retail space has been utilized to its maximum extent possible, reaching a point where it has become necessary to physically further our growth. Our sights have now been set on expansion and to achieve this challenging experience, we have decided to accomplish this expansion through integration.

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce that Patta and Precinct 5 will join together and merge into one unique retail setting at the Precinct 5 location and continue the venture under the Patta identity. Ben G shall remain at the current location, providing the finest selections in skateboarding-related hardware, footwear and apparel, while the old police station will house and offer the Patta clothing brand, selected footwear, premium apparel, accessories and the official Amsterdam Stüssy Chapter store. As Patta we will be offering a new shopping experience and higher level of customer satisfaction, all conveniently under one roof.

PATTA and PRECINCT 5 will be closed from APRIL 18-20.
We will reopen on APRIL 21 at the new location with a grand stock sale.

pws_07.jpg
We have partnered with Chinese sporting shoe brand Warrior Footwear and German writing instruments company Staedtler to present a mini collection for back-to-school season. Warrior’s classic and affordable silhouettes have made them a household name in China for decades, so it was only right to bring this cultural icon to Europe.

The plimsoll Club model comes in 3 basic colors: red, blue and black. All three feature canvas uppers atop a white midsole, pen-scratched by hand with Staedtler permanent markers and waterproof coated, which means every pair is unique. The woven side tag carries Amsterdam’s signature triple X and Patta branding can be found on the sockliner and on the midsole tab. Each pair comes in custom packaging, and includes a set of Staedtler stationery containing a corresponding Lumocolor 318 Permanent marker, Mars Lumograph HB pencil, Mars Plastic slide sleeve eraser and a mini writing pad. 16 Jun 2011    Frank the Butcher & DJ Masta Lee present Classic Rap Volume 1

Two weeks ago my friend Frank the Butcher of Butcher’s Block/Concepts Boston-fame asked me if I was interested to produce a mix for him. As if my hands weren’t full enough already, I said “yes” cause that’s fam. I hadn’t made a mix or even touched my turntables in a minute, so this would be fun. Frank sent me 50 of his favorite 90′s Hip Hop records for me to work with, and being that I know 99% of them inside out, I decided to take on the challenge and use all 50. The result is one dense continuous mix. Recorded in two sessions. Enjoy!
